Children’s Ministries
At Elkin First United Methodist Church, children are not just the future of the church—they are an important part of the church right now. Our Children’s Ministry is a place where kids can learn about God’s love, build friendships, grow in faith, and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment. We love partnering with families as we help children discover what it means to follow Jesus in ways that are meaningful, joyful, and age-appropriate.
Sundays
Sunday mornings are full of excitement for children of all ages. During worship, children are invited forward for a special Children’s Moment, where they hear a short, engaging message designed just for them. Afterward, children can head to Children’s Church, where they enjoy Bible stories, hands-on activities, games, crafts, prayer, and discussions that help bring Scripture to life.
We also believe children belong in worship and are a valued part of our church family. For children who choose to remain in the sanctuary during the service, we provide busy bags filled with quiet activities, books, and sensory-friendly items to help them stay engaged and comfortable during worship.
Wednesdays
Wednesday evenings are a favorite time of the week for many families. Children gather for a fun-filled midweek program that includes Bible lessons, music, movement, games, crafts, and special seasonal activities. It’s a wonderful chance for kids to recharge midweek, connect with friends, and grow in faith in a relaxed and energetic environment.
Families can also enjoy fellowship opportunities and meals throughout the year on Wednesday nights, making it a special time for all ages to gather together.
Throughout the Year
Our Children’s Ministry calendar is packed with memorable events and special experiences designed to help kids grow closer to God and one another. These may include:
- Vacation Bible School (VBS) filled with music, games, creativity, and faith-building fun
- Easter celebrations with family activities, prayer stations, and egg hunts
- Christmas programs and seasonal events
- Summer activities full of fun, friendship, and faith
- Mission and service opportunities that teach children how to love and serve others
- Family fellowship events throughout the year
